Not running very well

I agree Peter, but there was still a lack of certainty.  I am also sure that the system as a whole is not 100% but without going through all of it you can never know.  Anyway, all is good now and we know a bit more.  Every day is a school day!

It will be very interesting to see if the "blocked WUR" syndrome is more widespread than we think, especially following the increase in permitted ethanol from 5% to 10% and more of us are forced into replacing the fuel pipe circuit. Following Ian's experience, now that we have found a very helpful fuel pipe specialist in Leicester - AA Hydraulics, I will be going down the 1 or 2 fuel pipes at a time route rather than going for the full set. Although there doesn't appear to be another case of Blocked WUR on the IB forum, there are a lot of other cars out there with Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection systems with WURs and I think KMI suggested this was more common then we IB's think ! The exact Bosch WUR on my 930 is also used on a Ferrari 308 as well as a range of Audi & VW applications.

I know it's never going to happen, but it's time we renamed the WUR to something that more accurately reflects its function as the Fuel Control Pressure Regulator !

Or even the Fuel Pressure Regulator as I think some call it

Maybe however there is another Fuel Pressure Regulator in the Fuel Distributor which controls System Pressure whereas the "WUR" operates on Control Pressure.

Is there a recommended pressure gauge or kit for checking CIS?

Just got new seals, sleeves and gaskets so will refit later this week. Thought I ought to check the pressures as well.

You can add me to the list of blocked WUR.  KMI overhauled mine in 2015.  I have not yet changed any hoses / lines  but getting round to it.    I did however have a major contamination issue due to a defective fuel filter a while before the WUR overhaul.

I wonder whether you may be able to help me to find AA Hydraulics in Leicester.   I have Googled but only found a company of the same name in N Ireland.  Many thanks for any help.

I am pretty sure that you would be able to find something similar to A1 a bit closer to home, worth a look

Thank you Ian.  That would be nice.  I have Googled this subject numerous times and found some leads that I need to follow up.

I forgot to say that if you want to borrow any of my old fuel lines as patterns so that you can get new ones made without taking yours off the road then that’s not a problem.

Thank you Ian.  That is a mighty kind offer that may take you up on.  I will try to find a likely supplier and get back to you.  Thanks again.

I have seen that in the parts list that early 911 seem to have flexible tubes as original for the tunnel pipes.   Are there any views on this as by having flexible all the way will probably eliminates some couplings?

  • 9 months later...

Thought that I would just ad this as it may be of interest for everyone that has a WUR on their car, I rebuilt my WUR on my injected 308 a few months back and I am planning on doing the same on my SC. I came across a company called Unwired Tools who produce a much newer and updated version of a WUR for 911SC 928's and Ferrari's  which is known as UTCIS-V,  Hopefully this is of interest to you.

Seems it might be worth checking on Pelican as this product gets some critical reviews
