Mileometer and Trip stopped working

On the way home I noticed my trip and mileometer stopped working.

I assum its the internal mechanism as the speedo itself still works.

Is this a easy DIY or is this one for Reap?

That's a good thing isn't it ;)

Got to be DIY I'd have thought. I have an article on how to do it, I'll try and find it.

Mine did this a couple of years back. The grease that was applied to the worm drive during assembly spent the last 30+ years turning the plastic gear into jelly.
Easy DIY repair once you get the bezel off the gauge.
Gears are readily available via eBay or a chap in Cornwall - don’t remember the name of the company.

The replacement gears don’t need grease.

Great!  But at least you didn’t start to strip it.......or did you?

Nope, on the upside it made getting the speedo out a lot easier!

Hi guys, I know this is an old post, I have also encountered the same problem, odometer is not moving but speed reads fine. I took it apart just trying to see if the gears are indeed broken, turned out the gears are all fine, mileages moves when I turn it manually from the first gear. Now I wonder if I can get a replacement for the odometer motor?

Many thanks,

JT
