Better still it limits the maximum power setting for releasing tension only - around 400Nm. Milwaukee has a great track record but unless you work with Wind Turbines or Rail Rolling stock, 1400+ Nm is just bonkers and can do a load of damage unless you are careful. Haith, if you are anywhere Herefordshire/Welsh border, you are more than welcome to have a play with my Makita, to see if it suits you needs.. I’m not too far away (Builth Wells) direction. Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve had makita before and still use one of their drills. Sadly the old NiCad batteries I had (maybe 9 batteries) have all died. Will look into the 285 Wonder why Milwaukee make such hugely powerful wrenches. 1400Nm is massive you’re right. That’s 140kg swung on a meter arm if my college maths is right. Snap most bolts clean in half. Think it’s overkill for my needs. The 18v LXT Lithium batteries for the 285 Impact gun are fine providing they are charged prior to any long term storage. Most of my LXT batteries are Non Genuine Makita, same goes for Chargers. From memory around £25 for a 5Ah battery with a 5 year warranty... In a past life, I spent some years in product development with power tools, at that time the number of Power tool Brands who actually manufactured battery cells was remarkable few; no more than 3 or 4 worldwide, its badge engineering on a grand scale, that's why I was happy with non original. I still maintain contact with the Construction Management sector, and the ever increasing output of drills and impact tools is a major challenge with construction fixings being overloaded leading to premature failure or compromising substrates. Not that long ago all we had was1.2 & 1.4AH and we were happy. Now we have some heading for 36V -10Ah! Andrew Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
