Rear number plate lighting options

OK folks,

As you may know I'm planning  a bumperette delete on my car, as such I will need to illuminate the numbers plates and wondered what you guys with modify bumpers have done.

My current thoughts are along the lines of  something likes either of these:

The first ones are what I used.

Made a shim mounting plate out of ally for the lamps, sandwiches in between the number plate and it’s support bracket (the shim plate is a little longer than the number plate to allow for the lamps).

Saves drilling the bumper for lamps etc.

Don't use those little led ones, they don't last long and look rubbish (sorry Fraser).

I have these https://www.carbuilder.com/uk/black-painted-aluminium-led-rear-number-plate-light but plastic versions. I think they fit wel with the design of the car. Car builder solutions have a lot of different ones.

I had the little LED ones for yonks, work fine but don't fully illuminate the full width of the plate.  Still they never failed the MOT test and are nice and neat and easy to install.

These are Hella items which were fitted to BMW 2002s as standard and also the original Ruf Yellowbird.  They were also used as racing number lights on the back decks of some 917s.

I have the small LEDs on mine, I have f/g rear bumper and simply drilled through the number plate and bumper and used them to mount the rear plate. Discreet and MOT friendly it seems.
