remove super-pro top mount bushes w/o damage?

Recommended Posts

Can superpro top mount bushes be removed without destroying them? Or is cutting them off the only way?

They're pressed in so should in theory press out!  Probably need to remove the top mount itself so you can handle it effectively.

The metal sleeve through the middle is press fit, so take that out before you do anything else.

As stated above.

Are you experimenting with a different top mount or do you need access?

Thanks for all the replies. The sleeve does indeed push out easily but not sure how I would push out the PU bit while the top mount is in the car.

I have a set of Elephant Racing mono balls I wanted to install but was hoping to not destroy the Superpros.

Lower the strut and remove the top mount in its metal casing, then press the bush out off the car.  Bit of extra work but not much.

Off the car as Nige says. You'll need to pull the bushing out through the bottom of the mount. Make a wooden frame and use a bit of threaded rod with a 20mm washer to pull the bushing out. Use plenty of silicon lube on the bushing so that it doesn't stick. (sorry I'm crap at art.)
