Thanks for the reminder. I’m nervous about fuel lines, but I’ll give it a go. This has been quite a learning experience!

I reckon you’ll be ok as it seems no fuel is getting to the injectors..you’d certainly have a wet plug otherwise..but you need to confirm anyway.

yep, these cars are out to challenge us for sure 😉

As a quick check you can remove the level float on the tank and look in, with the pump running you will see the petrol return swirling round, its 5 off 8mm nuts.  Saves getting petrol everywhere👍
More obvious if the level is low.

Thought I’d update this post with the resolution.

It turns out that the ignition coil had failed, despite the primary and secondary coil resistances being within spec. It was still producing a visible spark, but clearly not strong enough to start the engine.

A week after the supposed ‘fix’ I tried to drive it and it wouldn’t start again 🤬

I had to abandon any further work myself and get it recovered to a specialist (Nine Excellence).

The problem was eventually found to be caused by a loose cylinder heat temperature sensor, and further rough running to be caused by a loose power connector to the injectors. I’ve written a separate post on this,
