I have been looking at these too... drove my SC for first time at night this weekend... Headlights arent very bright are they!

I've never felt my headlights are lacking, sure they're not up to todays carlos fandango xenon bi-LED jobbies that we get use to in our modern daily.  £60 on decent bulbs, clean reflectors and a relay kit should be enough.  £1650 EX-VAT is astronomical!

Agreed. I am not sure any of these spangly headlights look right on IBs. Even the Singer ones aren’t quite right.

agree with guys above, i've never found my IB headlights weak and i use mainly un-lit country A-roads and country lanes, in fact since ive had the car i've always been pleasantly surprised how good they actually are. If you want stuff headlights try driving an Italian car :D

The biggest issue driving these cars at night is other peoples headlights, not ours. As soon as someone is coming the other way with standard LED lights its a complete white out!

And we are sitting way lower than most people in their SUVs..

yeah thats true, modern bright LED white lighting is blinding.  Also suffered a couple of selfish w*nkers who didnt even bother to turn their main beam down the other night so was completely blinded between the trees! All were SUV drivers

these are fair points - and yes my main issue was being dazzled and not being able to dazzle back!

Think I will try better bulbs beofre going down that route then...

Any pointers on bulbs please? this really is not my area !

Can't recall exactly as there are a gazillion of options, I put Osram Night Breakers.  I do have a relays installed and the my headlights are pretty new so the reflector material is nice and relfectory!

Make sure you add relays at the same time, plenty of info on here about what is needed.

would these be the relays that come with the classic retrofit fusebox?

I got that last week, and being fitted this week....

Yes, Johnny's fusebox sorts the problem of lack factory headlight relays.

The E and S Class in particular - another level up on HIDs and absolutely blinding either oncoming or following you.

Great, you’ve got it covered then.

I have LED bulbs in standard reflectors - work great and way cheaper!

Drove home in the dark in Daisy in torrential rain a couple of weeks back after a Castle Combe track day. Must admit I really wanted brighter lights on the country roads. Gotten a bit spoiled by modern lights. Maybe some improved bulbs or a full on led lights setup.

The improvement from new (resilvered/rechromed) reflectors, "modern" H4 bulbs, relays (whether Jonny's fuse panel or the J West kit) plus new lenses that haven't been blasted by 30+ years of road grit is considerable. If glare from oncoming cars is an issue a tired windscreen with the same 30+ years of grit blasting plus the abrasion from the wiper blades is usually a significant contributor.

Good point on windscreen- I put in a brand new heated front screen at same time- what a difference!

I initially did a relay conversion and high output bulbs.

Now I have Johnny's fuse board and relays, combined with LED bulbs from Classic LED's

They are warm white and design for a H4 headlamp, use less current and are much brighter.

I checked the beam pattern at a local MOT station and he described it as perfect!

Got mine from classic LEDs too and had previously put in Johnny’s board/relays.
