Taking over someone else's love

Many of you will know the car and may know that I bought it from Phil. He was very hands on, and I am not so much! but I do have a lot of enthusiasm to make the car what I want.

Really enjoying the project so far and have changed a few things. The plan is to be 50-70kg lighter and perhaps a little quicker. I love the MFI look so this is what I have gone with.

The engine bay is having a tidy up soon and I am researching cams. The new air filters are on and the exhaust is being built currently. The list of things to do keeps getting bigger:

Shorter gearing

LSD

Wevo

Cams

Full repaint with lightweight panels and sunroof delete

Single 74 Mirror

Engine bay tidy

Short steering rack

lightweight battery

Lightweight starter motor

Refurbish alternator fan

Chin spoiler

Seat retrim with pepita or tartan centres

Grateful for the help I have had from the forum so far, and Phil has been great. Having him 5 minutes away for support has been great :D

Some recent pics!

You are doing a good job Lee :signs85: I’m glad you’ve changed the wheels and put the decals on as it doesn’t look like my car anymore. You are doing all the things I wanted to do but couldn’t justify the cost or time. I wish I had a car to put the Campags on so I could buy them back off you :D

Keep going.

What about the number plates?

Ah yes, forgot about that, just one and in my defence, not a sticker:D
Probably not what Lee had in mind for his thread though - sorry.

Thank you John. Will speak to you about a valuation at some point.

Cheers Matthew and thanks for all of your help with parts.

Wingonut, no Star Wars stickers anymore. It was replaced with a Weltmeister 70's window sticker. Number plates are a different style too.

Have made some great progress recently and have been jointly working on the car with Jevvy. Really enjoying getting involved and we have completed the following in the last few weeks.

HT leads

Plugs

Replaced all fuel lines

Fuel filter

Oil/Filter

Engine mounts

Exhaust

Also revised mapping after the exhaust and air filter and the car is really flying. Pics of the new exhaust which sounds so good.

What exhaust was on before and what do you have now?

The new one is an FVD exhaust. The one that came off was a Dansk single exit.

Do you need one? Free to collect if you do.

I'm good for an exhaust at the moment but if I did need one the offer would be gratefully accepted, just that it would be a bit far for me to come and get it.

Had the car mapped yesterday after the exhaust and intake changes, also changed the velocity stacks. The car is so much faster after proper mapping and having time spent on timing and AFR table.

231BHP and 210ft lbs of torque with a nice flat curve throughout the range.

Thank mate.

Hungover today and spent the day cleaning the car, removing some scratches and using a chipex kit to tidy the paint up in a couple of places. Quite satisfying and pleased with the results.
