Recommended Posts

Hello , I’ve just joined the site.  I’m trying to sell my wheels in the hope that I can raise money to buy the correct / close to original factory spec as possible. I don’t think I can afford genuine FUCHS so most likely reproductions it will have to be, The wheels that are currently on the car aren’t very valuable I’ve be advised & totally believe ,

however before I advertise them I thought it worth ask you guys,

they are 17 inch 7.5j & 9j in need of a bit of love

In case you were unaware the original Fuchs are available again new and, whilst not inexpensive, they might be more reasonable than you thought. Plus you wouldn’t have the concerns associated with buying used forty years old wheels, or indeed some of the comically optimistic used market pricing.

Those are later offset wheels and no good for IB's. Im sure you have spacers behind them. £200 ma?

Replica set of Fuch about £800+, Genuine Porsche £3000+

Thanks so much for the heads up £3000 is a lot but I think it’s probably worth it in the long run, happy days

I'd seriously consider some good quality replicas and save yourself some cash.  They're a lot better than they use to be and are almost as light as genuine Fuchs.

Though this could be a good option at an inbetween price and also come with what looks like OK tyres.  7 & 8s so your arches will be filled.  Original fit on yours would have been 6 & 7s which I think look a bit thin in the wheel arches.

I just happen to have 2 sets (8 wheels) of original Fuchs in 6" & 7" x 16".  They have been professionally refurbed and in boxes.

Only problem is, I'm based in Wicklow and I was looking for €2k per set.  I don't know what they are currently worth and don't have time to go down the rabbit hole.  I could bring them to a friend in NI for further shipping if required.

There are loads of detailed photos somewhere, and if they are of interest I'll try and dig them out and put them up on the forum.

I was using one set for daily driving and the other set for track day tyres, until I switched to bigger wheels.

Btw......I also have set of new brake discs for SC plus 'sets!!' of new ferodo and porsche pads

These have been on eBay for a while. Would the wheel offset on these be ok for an SC? The information the seller gave me made no sense at all?

They will fit fine, they have skimmed and laquered though, is £1800 too much though?

Ideally have a good look at those in person first.

Skimmed wheels would put me off, you don't know how much has been removed or if it was done to disguise repairs.

Fair point, think I’ll keep looking.  My wheels are in really good condition so not desperate, I just fancy some wider wheels…

Maybe going down the replica route is the most cost effective option…??

You can see the machining marks! The lacquer will lift quite quickly and look terrible

Better to paint in a silver matt lacquer as Chris at Exel has done for a few of us in here
