Nice to get a mid winter road trip :)

Any issues with the Paris emission zone?

It's typically French....

You are meant to get a 'Crit'Air' sticker and there is a website.  If your car is pre 1996 the website just says 'Non!'.  If your car is over 30 years old ( not the 993 ) then, apparently, you can get a sticker which is an exemption, except you can't because the website doesn't support that either!  The 30 year rule was campaigned for and won by the French classic car confederation (or something like that).

With any car that is not 30 years old but before 1996 ( e.g. between 1993 and 1996) then officially you can't take it into central Paris at all.  Except I did and  I saw a few early 90's bangers with no stickers and several classics also without stickers.   In 2026 all cars before 1996 will be 30 years old so who knows what they will do.

TBH I headed straight for a private underground car park and the car was there for the duration so it was a calculated risk.  I came out on a Sunday - weekends anyone can drive in.

It's a bit like French zebra crossings.  I got beeped by cars for stopping to let people cross!  I Googled the rules.  You MUST stop to let pedestrians cross but only if they are on the crossing.  WHAT??!   So, as a pedestrian you have to step out into the traffic if you want the cars to stop.   The article then goes on to say that drivers mostly just ignore the rule anyway...

993 looks great !

Italian rules for pedestrian crossings were simple, if pedestrians were more than halfway across,  drivers would stop, anything less they'd better run for it
