Hi all.

Not been on here for some time.  Recently I've had an intermittent issue.  Sometimes on turning the ignition key there is no response.  No clicking, nothing.  Turn it again and it starts no problem.  I can only guess a starter solenoid.  Are these an easy swap?  Anything else whcih could be the issue?

Cheers in advance.

Ignition switches also have issues

You don’t have a crusty immobiliser by chance? I ended up running temporary wires to measure the volts at the starter when it didn’t crank. The yellow 50 wire has some connections you can check too.

Reminds me of when I looked at my mates kitchen low volatage spot lights as one wasnt working:

"Looks like you've blown a tranny" I said

He said, "Just once and I was drunk!"

I cannot take credit, if I remember rightly it was Jevvy or Burgandy Ben many many years ago………;)

Likely sorted by now but for reference I would look at ignition switch first, easy to check by checking voltage at the solenoid. They tend to wear/melt over the years and contacts shift.

Went through exactly the same issue not long ago (turning key and not starting, trying again and fires up) and after a lot of head scratching (did think immobiliser was the culprit to start with) I was ready to fit a new ignition switch as could not find anything else wrong.

But took the car to have some work done and one morning battery was completely flat (my battery is on conditionner at home and did not show any faults...). We decided to put it on a proper battery test bench only to find that one of the cells was playing up so decided to fit a new battery and the intermittent starting issue is now gone. So might be worth checking your battery properly as may seem ok at first sign but could be a similar issue to mine ???
