From the same people (Swindon Powertrain) who do the Tuthill 911K engines  (they know their stuff 😉 )

Expensive is right! I’d expect a whole car for that money, decent rust free one too…

I just had to click the link...

£36k!! Holy moly. Still if you're building the ultimate 964/993...

Add the bits you need on, £60k

Agree. Crazy expensive. The Tuthill’s 11k car is £750k though 😱

And I bet a performance rebuild of a motor at one of the fancy motorsport builders is north of £30k with the good bits?

Interesting how they offer the heads kit outside of Tuthills with an even higher red line.

That does rely on the rest of the engine and setup being suited to 12k though. No guarantee how long it will last either. The tuthill car may be "detuned" for reliability etc

its 1 million with a few "why nots" actually.

service every 3000 miles, 1 year warranty...

rumour has it the engine grenaded itself after that harris clip too..

Seen some fit and finish not acceptable for a million pound car as well...

sour grapes from norway, I know!!

Interesting. Not heard the rumour about the motor. Looked and sounded epic.

Saw two at tuthills. The finished gold car in the Harris vid and an amethyst in build. They are stunning in the metal.

They need a way of mode/map switching when aiming so high. A running regular map to limit stress and a 11k all out mode.

Reverse is interesting

think the amethyst is AndrewDs on pistonheads car.

they are struggling with mapping it especially on low revs. my impression is that the engine is largely developed by swindon, not tuthill.

new waters for all involved...

personally I dont see the point when you can just get an ox of a 3.8 in the back but Im more meat and potatoes like that

Agreed, too much revolution rather than evolution. Built for rich peoples vanity rather than driving IMO.

It's a proof of concept I guess. Will get better with time. if you're wealthy enough to consider a Singer, You might go this way instead

Are all these "extreme" retromods just a bit of rich guy posing? They're not going to be tracked or raced, they go to coffee meets going.

The gold one was built to a customer spec. It was him that specified the 11k rpm amongst other things and yes it is his toy. I was there last year whilst they were building it along with the amethyst one too. So yes you could say its a vanity project, but then he is paying for all the R&D that can then be repeated.
