Hi there!

I'm building up my 3.1 which is equipped with 97mm turbo barrels and ring pack ( different piston obviously) and I want to be sure of the correct order of the main rings.

There's no manual for the 3.1 and I don't have the turbo manual.

Please could one of you tell me (or post the relevant page of the manual) which ring goes where.

I suppose the square section on is top and the one with the bevel goes second.....the machining in the piston is identical.

Rings are Mahle and engraved "top" so I've worked that out!!

Many thanks in advance

Steve

Ps, any download links to the turbo manual would be well appreciated!

Have a nice weekend everyone!

Not familiar with the ring set you have.

With Wossner and JE rings, the lower ring has a step (similar to the chamfer). The step is facing down. The upper surface of the ring has a dot or text to indicate direction.

The upper ring has square sides, again usually with a dot or some text near the gap to indicate direction towards top of the piston.

As above these for other brands but I would be 99% confidant that the would apply on this application.

Thanks!

The rings are Mahle original,  they are engraved "top" for there direction so no worries there.

I'm pretty sure the square one (without chamfer) goes in the top position....just missing the manual and the illustration!

The normal 95mm SC rings are a different design.

Hi Ivan,

The plain one at in the 1st position and the beveled one in the second position?

I've spotted the engravings for which way up!

Thanks
