Any door latch experts out there?

I have problem when I shut my drivers door. The latch doesn't engage properly so the door doesn't latch shut. It's almost like it's "bouncing" out.

If you close it firmly from about 2 inches it works OK, and occasionally it work perfectly when you use close the normally.

It was like this before the restoration and it still happens, the door gaps are perfect.

Is it a issue with the slam panel latch alignment or is it an issue with the mechanism itself?

I have this problem with the passenger door. There is a cable that connects the door opening pull lever to the door latch. The cable has a spring such that when the lever is pulled to open the door the lever should go back, however mines a bit tired so I have to ensure the lever is manually pushed back in. Otherwise, with the lever left out, the door will 'bounce' as you've mentioned.

Could be yours has the same issue, in that case the cable may need replacing. Its worth checking this out in case other suggestions don't fix the issue.

Thanks, the lever is doing something similar. I'll have the panel off and have a look.
