Ok, long story short; 3 years ago I decided to rebuild my 3.2 as a 3.4 twin plug motor. I bought a Canems ECU which could not only drive 2 coils but could operate the resonance flap in my 964 inlet. It was rolling road tuned to 285bhp but it never really ran right.... I detected some inlet air leaks and but once cured it ran even worse! I tried EVERYTHING!! Jevvy has helped out, my local ex Porsche guy has helped out but nothing made it any better. I gave the engine a leak down test and decided that while my rebuild was fine, the valves that I thought were lapped in clearly were not! My local ex Porsche man is mates with Russell Lewis from their AFN days, so Russ rebuilt the engine (again) but still it ran badly. Eventually somebody suggested Wayne at Chipwizards, so I bit the bullet, organised a date and jack-knifed the trailer on the way there!! Wayne was very understanding and we rearranged the date at no extra cost. Some months later this time on a transporter I got the car to him. Within minutes he'd decided to work with the Original Bosch ECU, which despite it's 40 years is apparently much more sophisticated than most give it credit for. However, this meant after a full day's tuning I had to leave the car with him to convert the ECU to twin spark and resonance flap operating. Some 2 weeks later it arrived home on another transporter and Wayne sent me a very reasonable bill, some of his time was R&D and therefore not charged. However, on arrival it's 2nd coil boiled over, as it's 12v was permanently earthed. ECU was returned to Wayne who found no fault. Loom showed no fault, so eventually I had to return the whole car to him, luckily he set aside a whole day to sort it, and it took all day to discover the fault; 2nd coil driving transistor was mounted on a copper/resin perforated sheet attached to a heat sink, attached to the ECU chassis. Somehow, a tiny hair of copper was bridging 12v to the chassis, not apparent when the ECU is on the bench, in the car in bits or in it's case sat in the footwell. It ONLY showed up when bolted down, ie. earthed! 

So, in thanks to Wayne, he moved the original date at no extra cost, charged me very little extra for the ECU modifications, then finally zero for the full day's final fix.

Nobody knows more about these cars, especially the engine management systems and ECUs. I don't know of anybody else who can or is prepared to modify a Bosch ECU and keep going until all the problems have been sorted without charging extra. 

That was the short version, missing out the costs of 2 engine builds, 2 rolling road places, a jack-knifed trailer written off, tow car mend and several transporters to/from the North of Manchester....

If you need your old Porsche tuning, you know where to go IF you can get an appointment, he's a busy man! 

Oh, and he's a really nice guy. I'm off to finally drive the thing! Chris.

I used him for a live remap on my (ex) 993 and then the 3.2 - highly recommend him. There'll always be someone saying his dyno reads high -  when he was at Ninemeister - but forget the bragging numbers, it's how it drives with the remap.... so no complaints. And decent chap.
