flanged exhaust extensions

Recommended Posts

I'd like to change the silencer on my 914-6 conversion to something a bit fruitier and have this one in mind.

The current silencer looks to be a modified 2 in 1 out part. The tailpipe angle has been changed to emerge at the right point of the rear valance and the input pipes have been extended to clear the longer 915 gearbox.

Thus I can either modify the new silencer or fit some short extension pipes. I reckon about 40mm from flange to flange would work. Any suggestions for someone who can fabricate these? Turbo Thomas? They'll need to be square/true else the silencer will end up I the wrong place.

Like these on eBay but I don't fancy my luck on a eBay part. And they're too long.

I think any exhaust fabricator would make what you need for you. I use Redhill Classics. It’s a bit of a trek for you (actually not that bad) but they would do it while you wait and do a good job. It’s a proper garage where you can chat and watch if you really want to. They are super cheap too. They made a complete new exhaust for my BMW and have modified my sons Golf exhaust.

I thought similar, there’s likely a small fabrication business nearby who would do those for you. The flanges can be bought, or even just get the ebay ones and have them adjusted / improved if needed.
