New carpet or over mats?

I’ve never had mats in my 911 since buying it 26 years ago but now the driver's side is starting to wear.  Any thoughts on whether or go for a new carpet or a set of over mats?  Has anyone tried the mats Matt sells?

I have bought Overmats recently

My car has Aircon so they sent me a cardboard template first just to double check all was going to fit.

They are old school and you may wait a while but the quality is good.

I did try the other supplier but the fit just wasn’t quite right partly due to the Aircon and partly due to the carpet not slotting neatly under the runners of the seat itself and sort of bulging ..no problem with returning ..all very gentlemanly though..

I do think with Southbound you can have them done in the original OEM carpet too but it’s much much more expensive..

So these are non-original carpet, but assume good quality.  Are you happy with the fit and are they held in place by anything?  Would you mind please sharing the cost?

Thank you

Yes they are non original.. They are Overmats as opposed to carpet sets as per the southbound price list. IIRC for a set of 2 it was about £75 ex postage.

They don’t have any fixings but do fit well and slot nice under the seat runners ..

Mine is an 86 3.2 with Aircon which complicates matters so many of the off the peg Overmats just didn’t quite fit on the passenger side as there is a slightly different shape in the footwell ..The drivers side was always fine.

Southbound sent out their cardboard template to make doubly sure though.

They are a decent quality mat for the money but not the same teddy bear texture carpet as OEM more of a wool / velour mix.
