interior door handle rod

Hello 

 

how is the rod attached to the linkage clip inside the door?

does it go in from the top or the bottom?

In this picture it’s setup to go from the top  

the parts diagram suggests bottom

Referring to your photo, the bent part snaps into the cutout of the clip.  Are you snapping it in?  The rod  should be straight when in properly.

Let me rephrase the question.
is the linkage clip in the picture installed correctly? 
 

The way it’s currently installed the bent part goes down into the clip.
it can be installed such that the bent part goes in up into the clip.  
 

Does the rod end up sitting on top or hanging from below the clip ?

The shaft of the rod clips into the round ‘hole’ in the part of the clip facing the camera in your photo, with the ‘bent end bit’ of the rod passing out through the hole (downwards in your photo)

The little plastic clips wear out and can accidentally release the rod. For a couple of quid I’d replace them while I was in there….
