SC vs Early G series Carrera MFI

gt two

Recommended Posts

I have been on a bit of a journey making my car look like a 74 Carrera 2.7 MFI, partly because I have always loved the look and also because I wanted to get as much weight out of the car as possible. Im just above 950kg and the car looks pretty stock.

What are the differences? (apart from engine) between the early 74 cars and say a late 70s into 80s SC?

Visually like bodywork and trim? anything structural?

And then things like steering and suspension and other mechanical items?

Thanks!

A couple of starters ....

SCs have more flare in the rear arches, and so the lower quarter panel pieces are also different

Some (all ?) earlier cars do not have the bolt under the fuel filler flap that retains the fuel filler pipe in an SC

Thanks Peter, I never knew these differences and failed to spot them even when sat alongside a friends 74 car.

Looking at some pics I think I can see that it’s slightly narrower.

A 2.7 Carrera has the same rear arches as an SC

Best to go through a 1974 911 on PET and look for the specific Carrera 2.7 listings
