My  3.2 steering wheel leather has worn through around the two o’clock position. To retrim the leather looks like a complete replacement and re stitch, which wouldn’t be cheap. I’ve also seen replacement wheels on eBay, often generic adverts for wheels removed by a dealer that you can’t see until you have bought one. I dare say if I pestered them or actually bothered to turn up I’d get to choose. I assume that all 3.2 wheels are trimmed in black, although I have a blue leather interior.

Is there a repair service available? Should I buy a replacement? There’s no rush and the wear doesn’t really bother me, I just like everything to be right if it can be.

My interior is a mixture of Marine Blue and Lipstick Red.

My original wheel is Marine Blue, so not all wheels are black.

I recall seeing dark grey wheels too, so as Chris says there are options to black.  There will be a few places to get wheels redone at reasonable prices I’m sure.  I’ve seen a few on Wheelerdealers over the years.

If time isn’t an issue most car interior trimmers would refurbish your original one for you, last time I had one done it wasn’t any more expensive than what sellers seem to want for them now.

7 different colour options for a 3.2, contact Jack at Royal Steering Wheels

Now I know I could have had a blue wheel all along there will be no stopping me. I wonder why the first owner didn’t, he seems to have ticked every other box.

No rush though, first I have to get Iris back from the gearbox menders.

Just a thought, my 3.2 four spoke wheel has the strange black oblong piece in the middle that’s made out of plastic - if I had the wheel trimmed blue then can that be changed? If not it’s going to look odd.

Horn pad should be leather on a 3.2, most wont be able to retrim it as it has PORSCHE embossed on it

It looks like I’ll be getting the wheel re trimmed in black then, a blue wheel and black horn pad would just annoy me, unless I come across a whole wheel done in blue in the meantime.

A bit of googling Royal Steering Wheels reveals lots of happy punters, so that seems the way to go.

Still consider speaking to a trimmer, the leather can be shaved thinner than you might think, making details like that possible.

Get royal steering wheels to cover in blue and dye horn pad to match?

Actually I just looked at the Cameron Cars website (where I bought mine, they still park them against the same fence for photos although the fence does look 10 years older).

They have a lovely G50 3.2 in Lagoon Blue, similar to my Iris Blue but a touch lighter. That seems to have a blue trimmed wheel but with a black pad, and it doesn't look so bad...

I bought one last year, but swapped to the club sport steering wheel, which was dark blue but I dyed it black. Looks mint.
