Spurred on by recent posts from @World Citizen and @MarkJ, I’m reasonably certain many of us on here collect model cars, be they die-cast stuff or kits. I’d love to see what people have in their collections. I’ll share a couple to get the ball rolling.

Can't post pictures on here but with the onset of winter I returned to a very old hobby - scale model building.

Part of me can't escape the conclusion that it's a monumental waste of time, effort and money - the other part finds it absorbing and satisfying.

I have several in progress including a scale model of my 3.2, as accurate as I can make it.

I go through periods of themes. I like your approach to displaying them! I wish I had more space to pepper them around a bit more, but I fear my wife would take offence.

My 934 and 935 phase.

Then I went down this rabbit hole which I think @World Citizen might appreciate.

Yep, 😍 the McLaren section but I don't see a Moby Dick, longtail Group 5 935

Have over 50x F1 GTR's, only planned to collect Le Mans 24hr liveries

Then my collecting ran away from me, buying got all out of control 😒 🙄

Need this for my collection but price is a bit ouchy 🤑😬

Ooooff 😍 favourite ever race car

Show us your Group 5 collection mister, proper under the counter stuff, know you'll have a few eg Wurth Ford Capri, BMW Batmobile 😉

Confession time, when being offered or looking around for new work projects, 'being able to buy a 1 43 scale model' is a serious consideration for me 🙄

Juvenile thinking I know but I've turned down a few seriously interesting projects because of it 😬

Not much Gr.5 stuff other than the Porsche, the Jaegermeister Capri and a DRM 320i of which I unfortunately don’t have any pics.

Just been reading about Bernie Ecclestones 69 car collection of F1 and GP cars up for sale, wow, he has the full scale size of what we collect as miniatures 😀 valued at £500 million 😅.

Be interested to know what cars are on your shortlists in 1:18

I’ve already collected most of my all time favourite race/sports cars at that size but still more to get over time. I can’t afford the real ones so these give me pleasure to look at every day.
on my short list:-

1970’s Ferrari 31T

Mclaren f1 GTR

Aston DBR9

Ferrari 288 GTO

Lancia 037

Sure there are a hundred more!

I’ve got a couple of pre-orders at the moment. One for the 1965 Ferrari 250LM that won Le Mans and one for the Ferrari 499P that won in 2024. Other than that I’d love to complete my collection of Group A R32 Skylines, I’m missing a couple but they’re fairly old releases and very rare so the prices are a bit salty. I’m also building up the courage to order an F40 and an F50 from Amalgam.

I’ve reduced my large collection Roy, but still have quite a few of the better models, (Steve McQueen’s 250 Ferrari, Ferrari GTO, Aston Zagato, Jaguar D Type in 1/18 etc.)Need to get around to downsizing some of these as well! (If anyone is interested?)

Regards,David.
