Hi guys. So this is where you’re all hiding, seen a few of your names about other forums. Iv had my 3.2 for 18 months now and still addicted to it. Iv done a few track days and have been bitten by the track bug. Will be looking for a bit more power later in the year, and possibly some track tuition. :D

Cheers

Paul

Hiya Paul, that car looks the complete business. Welcome along buddy.

Thanks John

Unfortunately petrol prices rising rapidly - V Power now at approx. 0,98 p/litre in Belgium....

I'd rather not say what the annual road tax is on the Carrera ....(in the region of Euro 800 per annum!)

Apart from that all is well here!

I'll be at the 1000 Km Spa race next weekend - should anyone be there.

24 Hours Zolder Belcar Race this year on 26/27 August - always a great race!

Cheers

Gordon

We are at Spa on Tues/Wed 30/31 May if you happen to be around. I am hoping the current weather improves - a lot of rain is predicted over the next 4 days. I am sharing a garage with the Blut Orange GT2 but that is about the only time I will get close to it. The blue GT2 was hitting 165mph 300 metres before the end of the long straight (forgotten name) without really trying and this one is faster. Steve Rance was hitting 160mph 150 metres further down the road and he always trys very hard. IIRC, I was something like 130mph in the same spot with less than half the horsepower of the GT2 and braking at 120 metres.

Finally gone and achived a childhood dream! By route of a 944 Turbo SE and 968 Sport, I have finally bought my first 911. Its a Stone grey mettalic 1989 car, sport specification with black leather.

Picked the car up yesterday and was 'surprised' at how different the car is to my previous 968 sport. You really can tell that the design for this car is old. I found the floor hinged pedals quite difficult to use to start with and in fact got cramp in my calfs a couple of times. The gearbox was also diffrerent to what I am used to. Was also surprised at the massive petrol tank. £30 is around 1/2 full :-).

Still couldnt beleive the car was mine when I saw it again on my drive this morning. I will have to start fettling and tinkering soon. Watch this space for questions.......like 'where are my red braces and breeze-block-sized mobile'?

A special thanks to John for this forum and his help with questions about the car and also to Jevvy, who's knowledge and expertise on these cars really helped in acheiving an ambition.

Brilliant and lovely looking car - well done on making the move to the 911!

I bought mine after a 924 lux, then 944S2 and by a mile it was the right decision to make.

Like you, the offset pedals with its different action was the first thing to get used to, then the G50 box which is quite notchy until warmed up. (Swepco going in next week) Then the cost of filling that vast fuel tank ....!

Don't forget to ignore the oil level guage and use the dip stick for accuracy. My only mod so far is to fit a Porsche RS steering wheel which gives greater knee clearance, and since the top of the rim is offset from the spline centre it helps in steering effort at low speed.

One day I hope to have it live mapped at 9M and have a S steel side and back box fitted ... but in the meantime just still get a huge buzz out of the shape, the sound and the driving experience.

Enjoy!

Welcome Steve, we need to know a bit more about that car B)

Did you do the 3.4 conversion or did you buy it like that? How long have you had it?

Hi John,

I have had the car 3 years this month, its a LHD car that was converted to a trackday car back in the late 90's by a German tuning company, stripped out for weight saving and with a full engine rebuild with a 3.4 piston/cylinder kit and sports cams, also had front and rear Strosek bumpers and wing mirrors fitted. Being a track day car it has a rear roll cage fitted.

Suspension was rebuilt with front Koni adjustables, rear Sports Bilsteins, 22 and 28mm torsion bars, turbo tie rods and strut brace. It also has LSD. Car had headers and very loud exhaust, which meant no heating, survived the 1st winter then backdated the heating with SSI style exchangers and sports backbox. It had one Corbeau bucket seat and one standard Porsche electric seat when I bought it, I have changed these out for a matching pair of Corbeau sports seats, it had 7+8" Fuchs but I changed these to Turbo twist's as I thought it matched the bumpers better. My main task has been to try and improve the look and quality of the car over the last few years, it will never win a concours event though :D . I have had it dynoed at 243BHP but have just bought a Steve Wong custom chip which I will be fitting tomorrow, so be interested to see what improvements I get. Sorry for the long description  , bet you wish you never asked .

Don't be silly mate, interesting posts always welcome whatever the length and that was a good one, keep it up! Let us know when you are dyno'ing the chip, or come along with us on September 16 to do it (we are at Allan's that day).

I look forward to passengering you one day in the Red Devil B)

Don't think I have posted a hello or piccy here so here is my car:

She is an 87 LHD 3.2 Supersport, imported from Germany back in 96. I have had her for a year and she appears to be in good condition. Just had a major service and nothing wrong, apart from the bill  . She has been lowered quite a bit, as you can see, had a strut brace put on and a nice noisy twin outlet stainless sports exhaust. All done by previous owners.

I just spent the weekend giving her the full wax treatment, wash/clay/clean/2 x wax, same process on the wheels and fed the interior leather. She is now looking the business. Was hard work though, took Saturday and Sunday, luckily the wife went to her parents!

Makes you realise how hard these detailers work!
