Hi all I got the 89 Targa I mentioned, not been able to take any pics of it yet because camera is on the blink but been enjoying every second of driving it!! Has a few problems here and there but hey, I don't mind getting my hands dirty and crucially, it's lasted that first month where it normally goes horribly wrong when all the temporary fixes the last owner put in wear off

Anyhow, will be posting up loads more now my internet is working again (moved house) and looking forward to speaking to all of you!!

:)

Greetings,

As I noted in "Impact Bumping" I recently acquired my first Porsche, a 1984 Carrera.

It drives great, looks great, and it is everything I expected, and more.

The more and harder I drive the car the better it seems to run; is this my imagination or does the DME actually adjust?

Happy New Year,

Alan

Hi Alan. Happy New Year to you and congratulations on the car - it looks a beauty.

Nope the DME is dumb, only changed by chip mapping, but I know what you mean about the car improving with driving. These cars were built to be driven so enjoy it and remember the rev limiter is your friend so visit it occasionally :revs:

Looks great. If it has been sitting around a while, regular use will definitely improve it. Keep it up!

Hi there,

just bought Rich s's white Targa, picked it up on Sunday and drove it down to Exeter, a very smooth drive, avoided the worst of the weather but not all of the gritters. I was impressed by fuel consumption as it was a steady 3,000 revs most of the way - less than half a tank to go 220 miles.

Will post a piccy when the weather gets better.

I'm sorry to say I don't have a beard or sandals but I do enjoy the odd light ale. I still ride the ocasional motorbike - got a sp370, a vtr1000 and an xt500 in need of much love. Not a fair weather rider but haven't been on a bike since before Xmas, so getting that way.

warm regards

John

ps Rich was a great guy to business with. and a complete gent

Hi, nice car you've got! I was keeping an eye on it hoping to arrange to view at some stage but you beat me to it. Really nice car and hope you enjoy it.

All the best, Jamie

Hi there, introduced myself on the other "say hello" bit, but just to cover all bases....

My name is James, I live in Northants and have owned a 1987 Targa Sport since Sept 07. It's claim to fame is it featured in the DVLA adverts last year for personalised registrations. The car is standard apart from CD player and K&N filter. Only comes out on nice days and I spend far too much time polishing it.

Many thanks. The people at the ad agency wanted to "clean it" prior to the photograph, using fairy liquid and a yard broom.... I'm glad someone else agrees that it wasn't required! It's a nice thing to have tucked in the service history.

Hi Guys,

I've been lurking for a while, and last week I bought a 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera.

Zinc metallic with blue interior. Past owner had the car for 8 years and it has full log book and service history.

I'm from Sydney Australia and I reckon this Forum is one of the best for information and helping people with questions.

The Australian delivered 911's are euro spec and one of the reasons I liked the 1984 model was because of it's 231 bhp.

Weather is a bit crappy at the moment, so when things clear up, I'll post some pics.

Looking forward to being involved with the Forum and I'll probably have a few questions for you all....

Cheers,

Geoff.

The car has 124500 k's on it and is in very good condition. It has had SSI Heat Exchangers put on it by a previous owner so it goes pretty good...... :ani_clapping::ani_clapping::ani_clapping:

Thanks for the welcome guys....

At first I wasn't sure about the blue interior, but now I like it.
