I recently got my car back from having some paint work done to the front/bonnet/wings inside and out as well as a new tank, smile, rubber seal etc.

However some wet petals got stuck to the bonnet which hosed off easy enough but have left a dull mark underneath which seems difficult to remove.

Anyone have any idea what to use to bring the polished glossy lacquer back to its former glory?

Thanks

First off I would treat new paint gently - could be quite soft.

If it was my car I would try gently using a clay bar with plenty of lubrication.

I'd follow this up with something like Menzerna Final Finish or 3M Hand Glaze and then a coat of the wax of your choice.

I would go back to the bodyshop and ask their opinion. It might have water stained the lacquer which will not clay out.

Living near the sea has benefits, and bloody big white, noisy, flying dis-benefits.

I had a damned seagull decide his breakfast had to be dumped on my 928 a while ago. When this happens I rush out and hose it off (in between throwing stones at the evil white devil birds), however in this case I was away. The damage to the paint on the bonnet looked horrendous.

I took my time and washed off the baked on stuff and then used a mild grade of Farecla to 'cut' the offending patches off - then finshed with a good wax. It came up very good - never thought it would though.

I would, as already stated, be very careful with recent paint - it does take some time to 'harden'. Maybe a good idea to speak to the guys who sprayed it for advice - they know what paints they used and how long before it is safe to try removing the stains.

Good luck with it though.

Thanks for the advice/responses.

Did get back to the bodywork people and going to take it in for them to checkout.

They reckon a polish up will bring the lacquer back but we shall see next week.

Thanks again
