thanks for all your help with this chaps - the internet is a great thing.
-
ok starting now - actually dont know what it was. Charged the battery and swapped the relays....made no difference. Swopped them back and went thru the fuse box turning all the fuses to check they were seated correctly. Then tried again and after a bit of throttle pumping she staggered into life with loads of white smoke from the passenger side rear tail pipe. Took it round the block and this cleared up and restarted fine. Should i just leave it alone now (subject to it starting ok from cold) or investigate further. Was it really as simple as a fuse not seating correctly???

brill thanks - will try it tomorrow

Can someone confirm whether the relays are the same - ie if I can swop then to see if the fuel relay is working or not? Thanks in advance. PS thanks for the info David...very helpful.
-
Ok thanks will try that - so are the relays all the same? Spoke to previous owner tonight and (as verified in the history) it had a fuel/injection system overhaul a couple of years ago to the tune of £1500. ouch
-
Had a good look at it today - no fuses blown and earth looks good. No clicking from the fuel pump so its either the relay or the pump. Where is the relay by the way? I have homestart with the AA so am tempted to ring them to have alook and then trailer the car to a specialist. I am not going to mess around with the fuel pump. Is the AA a bad idea in view of the type of car?

Thanks Topkit - havent had the opportunity to look at it yet. Bloody weather and single garage if you know what I mean??

thanks chaps will have a fiddle tomorrow. First port of call will be the fuse box!

I did think that but would it go just like that. My experience with other non porsche cars is that they deteriorate over time. Might be wrong. any quick checks to see if its operating?
-
Well after 3 weeks of ownership the old girl has decided not to start. Bloody annoying. It fired easily from cold and went into the usual hunting mode and then just died and refused to re fire. I left it over night hoping that the porsche fairies would work on it but still the same today. No couging spluttering or even a meagre attempt to fire. No smell of fuel either. The immobiliser doesnt seem to be the problem as it cuts out the starter motor and obviously this is turning the engine. Suggestions please....................

fitted the prototipo over the weekend - made a huge difference but still need the spacer so that is on order.

Love the colour - what bumpers are they and do the fit with no wing mods?
