sounds like a trip to the lakes is in order, thank you all

Kind of figured it was going to be a rebuild from what I have read on here, just need to find someone who knows this box that isn't a million miles away...

Need some advise on my gearbox please. When I change down into fourth hear I get a rather nasty crunch. I can manage this a little by double clutching but the issue is not entirely resolved. Changing up through the gears, the box performs we no issues and is easy to use. First and second gear are becoming increasingly difficult to select, irrespective of when moving up or down. From the other threads I have read, it's sounding like I will need an expert to look at this? Can anyone recommend someone in my neck of the woods, am near Cambridge? Thanks, Gary.

Hi all, Many thanks for the comments and messages. I have finally managed to get some pictures of the car as she is now, plus some pics of when the car had all the rot removed, which was about 4 years ago. The car does not have air con. But I have recently change all the locks and barrel sets on the car, which isn't a cheap job. It also has an immobiliser and tracker fitted (not active). Anyhows, heres the link for those that are interested: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/w4ue18g41ifhh8j/AACgaoaxWqbG1hZWIQ9eZ9Qva

Hi all, With some regret, I have decided to part way with my 1982 SC. Its been fun, but I need to clear the decks and this will have to go. I am trying to ascertain what would be a reasonable for sale price? I have checked on ebay and piston heads and the prices vary wildly. To give you an idea of the condition of my car: 1982 SC All rust cut out and resprayed. Body work is mint Top end rebuild Gear box recondition 89k miles mostly documented. I have only covered 4k since I took ownership The negative on this car, is that the sunroof headlining needs to be replaced as I removed this when my daugter accidenitally ripped it. I was planning on replacing all the carpets as I am quite fussy and those and the headlining would be my next job. Any ideas on valuations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gary.

So 2 votes for eradication and one for putting it on a life support mechanism... Sounds like the ole wiper may be on its way... Cheers all

Has a life of its own. The thing that bothers me, is that it comes on whenever activated, but refuses to turn off even once the car has been turned off. As I board my train, I check back on the car and the ole wiper is wiping away. Not much of a quibble I know. Any thoughts?

Spoke to OPC this morning and they have located the initial key in the head office. Nearly 45 quid for the replacement, but so long as the locks are original, it is a massive cost saving. Thanks all for your help....

Sounding more and more expensive, but I lost my only key for my SC. Does anyone know whether I will need to buy new barrels etc or can Porsche simply replace with keys the VIN of the car? Its a 1982 SC. Gutted.

Morning all, Need to replace my battery as the thing is kaput and I don't want to fork out 1k+ on a lithium battery, however I found this product online: http://www.rennline.com/Battery-Odyssey-925/productinfo/EL-PC925/ Wondered whether anyone had any experience of these? The weight saving is quite significant over a standard battery, about 9Kg all told and the price is not too prohibitive, approx 150 GBP. Thanks in advance.

I would rather a supercharger than a turbo, I had one on my old BMW and thoroughly enjoyed it, although I went through a gearbox very quickly Do you know of anyone who does this kind of work as I am drawing blanks? Had a great blast in the old girl today, she loved the cold air outside.

Took the car to Nick at Auto 2000 and aside from a few minor quibbles, the car is exactly as it should be. Cracking drive, soundtrack and a broad smile. Naturally I got onto the subject of better performance out of the engine and Nick suggested the use of a supercharger? I cannot find anything on this aside from old links in the US, has anyone gone down this route with an SC, or should i say an SC SC? I'll get my coat...

Well I am glad you clarified all of that for me... I think I'll go for option B please...

Sounds to me like the 964 cams are a shoe in too! Any negatives to report? Going to be a busy few months!
