  1. Hi David, Just read your post on here regarding a trip to Scotland, I've just had a few days over there myself in my 930, great roads for a bit of fun should you be inclined. I notice you were asking about a castle(y) type accommodation. I stayed in Dornoch which is way north of Edinbrg. in fact its north of most places ! but its a lovely spot n bang next ot the Glenmarangie (?) distillery... which is a bonus ! the Dornoch castle hotel is a lovely spot in the centre of the town just have a quick google & you'll find it. would be very interested in how you get on with your fuel man as I am looking to fettle mine over the winter. hope my post wasnt too late for you. Rgds SB

Hi Mach, Sounds like a good idea to me, I'd be v interested, depending on exact day etc, dont mind the travel time so much, more time to play in it.! Rgds SB
  3. Well the pads came out very easily, all the pistons slid back in nice and freely so I am taking that as a good sign. I have got one concern tho, the pads seem to have worn unevenly, the nearside have about 3,5 mm left on each pad and have worn down evenly. However the offside are much closer to the metal, infact the the outside pad of the offside wheel is virtually on the metal (See pic), the inside pad has worn at a slightly uneven rate, top of the pad is thicker than the bottom... any thoughts as too why ?...... discs are fine, no obvious marks or indications of anything wrong. The calliper seems to be fine, no signs of leaks out the seals, pistons moving freely etc. A couple of pics, I am guessing these are gen Porsche pads, with the part no stamped on them ? any thoughts on suitable replacement pads? I am waiting for a micrometer to check the discs but hopefully they will be ok. Thanks Ian
  4. Fan of , David, Thanks for this, I am surprised its as straightforward as it looks !....I thought I must be missing something when I first saw the set up. I will get stuck in tomorrow. I will check the discs too, I reckon I have caught the pads just in time before I got metal to metal but as you suggest JG I will probably change the discs anyway. Have been reading various threads on replacement pads... seems its a hot topic ! I am only looking for road use at the moment so any recommendations ?.. same goes for discs actually... any thoughts ? I did notice when I took the rears off that it has spacers fitted on the rears only..... I thought that odd... it has 9 x 16 on the rear and 7 x 16 front, I am assuming this is standard ?.... am v tempted to remove them, as dont they increase loading on wheel bearings somehow ??... JG if this is a new topic I will move it ! Thanks SB
  5. All, I am looking for some help in replacing the front pads & very probably the rears when I inspect them. I have just whipped the front wheels off to have a look around and noticed the front pads are almost on the metal !!... I've just had a quick read of the 101 projects book and mine look nothing like the pics in the book... I dont have pins and retaining clips at all, just a fancy spring thing to retain the pads. I've tried to upload a pic of the set up on here...not sure it has uploaded tho. To be fair I haven't had a go at removing it yet, I am a little nervous of getting stuck into it and realising I haven't got a clue !.... wouldn't be the first time tho !! Also are there any recommendations for min thickness of the discs?... I guess I ought to check they are ok while I am doing this? All help gratefully received Cheers SB
  6. I have a 4 speed box.. I am totally confused now !
  7. I called the OPC to confirm that I couldn't get the mounts seperately.. & they stated the same.. they are not available, you have to buy the "transmission carrier" ... at £610. In the end I ordered engine mounts off T911 & left the g'box. But having had if confirmed by you guys you can get em, I will be cancelling that & ordering the Superpro set from Nick. Cheers SB
  8. I dont know about the 901 transmission, but an OPC has just quoted me £610.00 for the complete crossmember for the 915. I called them after the specialist told me the mounts were'nt available sepreately. Does'nt give me much confidence in the intercooler seals I ordered of em either !! SB
  9. All, Thanks for the info, I was almost certain I'd read on here somewhere that the mounts could be got seperately, but the guys at T911 where adamant you could'nt... I think I'll go for the Superpro one's see how I get on. Cheers Guys.
  10. Hi, Am interested in your new superpro engine & g'box mounts, I am thinking of replacing mine over the winter and would like your views on how you found them? I have a 81 930 with a 915 type box which I take by this thead is the same box as yourself ? was the job easily done.. worthwhile ? I have spoken to a couple of specialists who say you cant get seperate mounts for the 915 box & have to buy the complete carrier.... is this true ? Many thanks SB
  11. Jeez... this car cleaning carry on is all getting a little out of hand is nt it ?? just had a look on these lads site, my god its all sicence n technology.... anyway I'm gonna order one of their kits and see what the story is.... it better take 25kg off the weight, polish it to concurs and last forever, be done in half an hour & not rain for a month on it !! SB
  12. Thanks for this, I will be getting one of these here clay bar things and see what a difference it makes. SB
  13. Hi, I've recently got myself my first IB and am new to all this serious car cleaning malarky... I keep seeing posts and threads refering to clay bars ??... what on earth are these things then ??.... n what do they do ?.... am I missing a vital piece of hi tech gizmo ery here ? I did buy a new bucket n sponge for the washing operations.... n I thought that was pushing the boat out ! Thanks SB
