Went out for a quick blast over the weekend.

Noticed that the throttle pedal is a bit sticky.

When the car is revved to say 3.5k rpm and the throttle released the revs drop to 2krpm quickly and take at least 20 seconds to fall to rest at 1krpm.

On closer investigation i tried pulling the accelerator pedal back up (toward the driver) when it was in this state, the pedal came up some more and also the revs dropped quickly.

Is there a spring in there that can beome weak? Or is this a notorious spot for dirt to be trapped?

Might just need a good lube  ?

Rav you probably need to get your head under the car and free up all the linkages - also a good opportunity to check you are getting full throttle at the engine side when your foot is flat on the floor - my last 2 3.2's have been less than 75% before I adjusted it.

I can explain in here what to do or you can just arrange a day to head over to my house and we can have a look at a list of stuff you want to address - lemmie know.

I had the same problem, and it turned out to be a broken accelerator return spring. Once I replaced this we were off!

This is the place you want to look at

BTW - I've searched for the apparently rusty bit and can't find it anywhere!!!

The 'boss' part is likely to be sticking - remove it (it may foul on the suspension arm but you don't really need to take it completely off), clean and copa slip it and replace and you should have no problems. As said earlier check throttle travel - you're looking for this

PS - Sorry about sizing / link - I'm only just coming round after holidays so a computer is an alien thing at the moment!!

Ian, has Roys post given you enough detail or do you need more explanation?

Is it sticky throttle you want to deal with or checking you have WOT(Wide Open Throttle) when your pedal is on the floor?
