    Tyres

  2. Just had the fuel bills in from le mans trip. 27mpg. That is after a major service and having Wayne Schofield do his stuff the week before going. Was suprised as before it was 20 - 22mpg.
  3. Thanks. I managed to source a second hand reflector with fogs reasonably cheaply before I looked at the back of the car. Couldnt see how it would fit so posted my query. Will re look and attempt hopefully at the weekend.

  5. I looked at swapping the whole reflector strip for a later part that included the fog lamps, but my unit looks to be a permanant fitting. Thanks for the reverse light fitting tip, nice touch. Refitting in the old way just looks so untidy and after thought.
  6. My rear valance attached foglights appear to have "fallen off" during a little corrective body work ... With at least one being required for the MOT, how do others comply with the rule book when the worst day of the year arrives?

  8. A few people carry spare relays in their cars. Do they fail regularly?
  9. I have been spoilt really as have had the use of an 84 930 that has been stripped, lightened, handling enhanced and has over 500 bhp. I am not looking to go that far but am wanting a bit more get up and go than I have now. Car having major service as we speak. The bodywork is in really great shape and not looking to change it for grp panels. Would like it to look stock but have that hidden performance. As guided by a few people, will turn my attention to the handling / suspension as a prioity and seek the remap / air intake. If then not happy, will go for the lid off the engine and let someone do their magic.
  10. Thanks all for your pointers and advice. Without the endless pot of cash, am thinking of starting with the low cost options and moving up from there. Will be giving Wayne at Chip Wizard a call as a starter for ten, move on to the suspension and then if not happy it looks like the expensive bills will start by opening the engine up. Maybe I should lose some weight before tearing the car apart........ Cheaper but far less enjoyable. Aiming to get some of this done before Le Mans and enjoy the journey. Then if additional work is needed, will return to the wallet for more changes before my trip to Circuit de Ramparts. Will post the results as and when they happen.
  11. Having owned an 86 3.2 Targa for a year, the body work and interior are now sorted. The time has come to start upgrading the mechanicals and would appreciate any advice as to extracting more power from what is currently a stock engine (120k) / 915 box / 16" wheels Stainless heat exchangers and a Dansk box have already been fitted as the old had seen better days. Not looking to go mad and would also like the power to come in a little earlier down the rev range. As always the budget is not endless but as one of the minority who like the targa, I do not really want to jump to a 930 or more modern models. Thought about the chip and air filter routine as a cheap first fix, but have read mixed reports. If I am going to spend, thought it best to gain peoples experiences and make an informed decision. Handling is another project probably to be done at the same time as the engine, starting with Bilsteins replacing older items. The car is not going to be tracked, but enjoyed for 5k miles a year on mixed roads and trips to Le Mans, Old Timer etc. I intend for this car to be a keeper but do not want to create a monster that could not be sold if needed. Would welcome your suggestions. Thanks
