Internal door latch mechanism - help!

Recommended Posts

It is now more than two years since I took everything apart and I cannot remember how the internal door latch release linkage is fitted.

The locking mechanism is fine, but the Bowden cable arrangement does not seem to match up with the holes for the white plastic fittings - it seems too long.

Should the cable be installed with a bend?

If so, upwards or downwards?

Also, how should the fitting at the internal handle release end be installed?

Any assistance or pictures greatly appreciated.

Hi Alastair,

I had the same memory problem when I tackled this recently but photos saved the day. The Bowden cable arches up and is 'trapped' by the window mechanism. Your door release is correct, you just need to stretch the spring to the left and hook it to the door where the notch is.

I suggest you run the window up and down before refitting the door panel. Just do this with a battery on the two motor wires.
