  1. Hey Finlay, Glad to see you've found Impact Bumpers! Dominic at SVP has already been under and around my car more than once so he can offer you his opinion for the price of a quick phone call. Although I consider him a mate having met through this site, i dont believe he would allow his professional judgement to be compromised.

    Matthews 3.2

Looks fantastic Matthew. It must be 18 months since it turned a wheel in anger. Glad you're chuffed with the results, time to start the life savings again!
  3. Good footage Paul and some smooth driving. Your engine revs so cleanly and is very responsive when down-changing. Do you have a light flywheel in it?
  4. I enjoyed a great day with all you folks. Hope the car is easy to fix Steve. The Mickey Mouse 2nd gear turns could be designed to hammer brakes on 25YO cars judging by the sponge I went home with and needed to manage almost 150 miles without any real braking out of necessity. First time on track with the 911 and was amazed how well it managed to do the day without any real issues. Great fun, but for the track I would have the Caterham back in a minute - but the drive home, well, thats a given. I found that drivers of a certain age, i.e. about mine, still move 0ut of the way for a 911 on a motorway - how good is that! Good to meet you all, same time next year?
  5. I'm overnighting in Norfolk, it's just started to rain but the f/c is good for tomorrow. First time on track with the 911, let's hope it's a good one. Might be looking for a pax ride with anybody that has driven the new Snett before. Looking forward to a good day and a good IB turnout. See you there!
  6. Could be a streched spring not closing the flaps properly as on mine. I just cut a couple of coils off and het presto!
  7. My standard 3.2 G50 carrera with sunroof and part leather seats was 1261kg with half a tank of fuel when measured on Dom's cornerweight scales. it was somewhat more with me in it when the falt flooring was done!
  8. I had a similar issue recently. As has been said - seal stiction. The seal are pulling the pistons too far back into the caliper. A wise old sage (thanks twinny) advised me to pump the pedal up and wedge a piece of wood between the seat and the pedal to hold the pedal down. Leave for 24 hours and have another go at bleeding some air. The constant pressure should be enough to bed in the seals to the 'out' position. Worked for me. Good luck
  9. The Revit guys are just round the corner from me - didn't know they existed! I might just call in to see what they're all about, will let the board know, give me a couple of days....
  10. Thanks for taking the time to organise this, but I'm out as I was interested in how the motor was. I'll be up for the next one.
  11. Just booked on to this day, first time that I've been around for this event. Is there an overnight meet / motel or are we all camping in Twinny's garden

    Number Plates

Its not illegal to have plates made, however, it is illegal to display an illegal plate. £60 + 3 points. If you don't draw too much attention I bet the paperwork isn't worth doing. Interestingly, the fine for failure to display a plate is only £35 and 0 points. The plate 'fell off' my old Caterham.

    Brake lines

Just thought I'd update..... After lots (and lots) of bleeding and lots of air, I finally have a goodish pedal I can live with. It's not as firm as I would like but the brakes are definitely a huge improvement, front calipers are even and I can now brake with confidence. Was out for about an hour today, it's great to have it back on the road, but too many 50 MPH merchants around to really enjoy. Much thanks to Twinny for the loan of a bottle of RBF - Steve if you PM me your address I can get one sent back to you unless you are coming to the dyno day. Still feels like I have a bit of air, but I'll bleed that out as I go along, fed up taking the wheels off and the neighbours are starting to take the P. I could probably do with some new nipples to finish the job, then it's pedal box out and over to Doms so he can fix the slop in the end of the pedal pivot bar. I love driving this car.

    Brake lines

Dom, I'm grateful for the good advice. In hindsight I probably should not have let the system run dry, but in my mind I wanted to try to get 'pure' RBF. I've checked all the unions and will give it another go next weekend. I'm sure it's only a question of effort and time, but when it started to rain on saturday afternoon, I got cold and after 6 goes walking around the car with a 9mm spanner in my hand I had enough. Also, whilst the Mrs is very supportive, I didn't want to make it a marathon for her. If I get nowhere next weekend, Dom, I have a job for you.

    Brake lines

The brake system was empty before I started as I didn't want to mix the previous with the expensive stuff, so I expected to use at least 500ml and a bit. I'll try again next week when I've warmed up and dried out. Hope the oil change goes better than this
