Sills and Kidney bowls - How much?

Decided that the old girls needs to get the kidney bowls and sills done, also has some corrosion on the passenger slam panel.

It's is a bit of how long is a length of string question, but as a rough guide how much should I be looking at as a quote for a specialist body shop to replace these.

First of all I would ensure you use someone familiar with doing the job, we’ve seen quite a few bodges here over the years.  A Targa is slightly more complicated as well due to the lesser rigidity of the shell.  The ball park, worst case including paint figure was around £1500 per side.  Lots have done it for less, but if you expect this then you shouldn’t be disappointed.  Make sure they brace the shell before cutting metal

Thanks for that I was thinking it would be around the 1500-2000 range, but wanted to get some confirmation.

She's not too bad in the usual spots, but one of the main reasons for getting sills (inner definitely gone) and bowls (possibly OK) done is because she has some bad rust at the join of the passenger side slam panel and rear wing at about door handle height. The result of a bad repair. So it makes sense to get everything done at once. Luckily there is an official OEM repair panel for the damaged part of the wing. I'm hoping the bodyshop can use that rather than forking out for an entire rear wing.

Luckily I have a fairly robust budget to cover the expected unplanned costs and bodyshop has a good rep in working on Porsches.

Hi Wayne. Did you get it done? Where did you go in the end?

She's going into the shop on Monday. Had a few recommendations and am using a company called Autobody Technic which are only about 4 miles from me. As I said it's a few bits more than just sills and Kidney bowls, Bob came around an gave the car a good look over, identified a few other bits that need doing and we decided that after doing all the bits and pieces, it makes just as much sense to do a glass out respray so it all matches especially as metallic marine blue will show up any differences.
I've had the suspension out for a complete restoration (needs to go back in this weekend) and of course one of the captive nut/bolt holes broke away from the front suspension panel when taking out the bolt. It's the one that hold the coverplate/towing loop, not one of the suspension mounts, but it indicates that the inside of the panel is rotting, so it looks like they'll have to chop out and weld in a new repair panel.
On these projects it's useful to have a budget, a stretch budget and a super stretch budget as you never know what they may find.

Hi Wayne. I’ve also got my car in at Bob’s. Saw your targa in the paint booth. I’m going for the widebody look- hopefully no problems once he takes off the wings etc. I feel I’m in good hands with Bob, he’s done loads of them.  Looking for Turbo sills if anyone has them.

Originally wasn't going for quite as much work, but in the end I think sorting all the tinware and the glass out respray was the way to go.

I can't wait to see it myself when it's out of paint. Then I've got the process of sorting out all the interior.
