mark bevan replied to johndglynn's topic in IB Splitters: Your Other Classic Cars
Summers spent enjoying these with a crowd of biker mates around mid/north Wales most Sundays. Tho thrashing the nuts off this at the mo, same roads. -

Looks like I've got it wrong for the last 9 1/2 years!

That is a whale tail - isn't a tea tray rubber flat? That one on the car is the same shape as the one on my old 82 SC -it's the same as on the turbo.

Thanks Jevvy. I doubt he will have to much to do mechanically, tho the suspension is largely original. He will have to sort the paint and the front screen needs removing/replacing to look for the last place for rot. Also a few small electrical gremlins need to be addressed. Hope to sort a Med cruise for later this year.

Well, she has finally gone. Thanks to you all for the help & best wishes. The forum is, and the track day outings were, superb. Looking for the same with the elise (hope)! All the best, Mark.

I remember breaking down at Le Mans and being towed off the track on the first bend after the start/finish straight. I spent the next hour worried sick as I went through as much as poss to get it going. In the end I pushed some brown wire into the connector next to the spark box and hey presto fired up. So far I have always found its the simple things that cause the problem. Though an ECU is a different ball game - I felt the French were rubbing their hands while I fretted over not being able to find the fault. They seemed pretty unhelpful and seemed pissed when I managed to find the fault. If I was abroad again I would certainly make sure I had cover to guard against that sort of bill - Am I right E150 to the OPC and they did not sort it? A guy broke his engine (5th to 2nd gearchange I think) but others managed to get his car to the ferry so it could be collected in blighty and home.

Hi All, After 9 1/2 years of ownership my SC will soon be leaving these shores and heading off back to mainland Europe - Luxemburg to be exact. I bought it off ebay unseen, then had the gearbox refurbed before knowing the likes of Mike B up in Kendal. Having it has been as much a hobby as driving it, having been through the 101projects and engine rebuild books. I never considered ever rebuilding any engine - now I have topend rebuilt a spare and then a total rebuild of the one in the car seems hysterical now. Especially as they both work! Many trackdays, with visits to Spa & Le Mans with IB'ers was a high point in this forum, which has been a joy. I still have the elise which is half the value of the Porsche and 1/2 the running costs as I needed to sell the car so I can use the money while my wife is still able to enjoy it. I hoped to get to Snetterton next Wed in it if I could wrangle off work early, but it may be gone before then. Kind regards, Mark.

Hi All. I have a 1983 3.0 SC. My rear fog light has broken off (camping at Silverstone). My query is: can the fog light be incorporated into one of the rear light clusters? My both my rear lights have a reversing light in them - so wondering if one of them can be converted to a fog light? Has anyone done this please? I'm sure the wiring is the easy bit but getting the lenses to work is the difficult bit? Regards, Mark.
