  1. I agree with Phil. Try using it a bit more now the sun has finally made an appearance and see how you like it.... You may fall in love again, and if you don't there will be plenty of summer left in which to sell.
  2. Yes! Not too far and as soon as Wayne has fixed the last bugs in my ECU I'll be desperate to actually USE it!
  3. I don't know anywhere near you but Wayne Schofield of Chipwizards is No.1 Porsche guy.
  4. As John says, a proper workshop could fix that for you for way less than a new or used one. Cornwall must have loads of good back street workshops.... KS, know anywhere?
  5. Hi all. My car is once again due to visit Wayne Schofield in early May to (hopefully) make it run as it should on all 12 plugs and without stalling. To this end he's suggested a 993 idle valve with it's larger bore may be more able to cope with rev variations than a 3.2 version. At this point it's just an experiment, so does anybody have one for sale/loan to try in May? It must be the 3 pin 993 version not the 964's 2 pin version. Thanks.
  6. Up front cooler or not, unless your car is SUPER hot at oil change, the thermostat will be closed, so you will not be changing the oil in the cooler or pipes. 10L is recommended, add that much then run the car until fully warm and top up until dipstick is good with engine running. Do not overfill, again general wisdom suggests oil level should be somewhere half way between the two dipstick marks. Oh, and don't drop the dipstick in the tank!
  7. Agreed, but what happens if your car fails it’s MOT and you drive it home “I’ll fix that one day…” are you insured? No test at all means legal ignorance! Devil’s advocate really as I’m sure we all know what is/feels safe or unsafe but as we all know one station’s pass can be another’s fail.
  8. I think there is no amp. Sticker on back of old head unit indicates output goes directly to speakers, and as in my other post, the connectors suggest amplified outputs. This is good, you could re-use the existing wires to the speakers by adapting and extending the existing ends, perhaps into the trunk, where it will be easy to locate a 4 way amp. Run 4 x RCA cables there and switched live too and a fresh +12v direct from the battery....... No permanent modifications required.
  9. Those plugs are indeed speaker cables. BUT they will be at amplified speaker level. Your old amp will therefore be designed to take loudspeaker level input and amplify it further. Your new Bremen head unit has 4 line level outputs (Front Left FL, Front Right FR, Rear L and R) plus a line level sub output. These are designed to feed an amp expecting line level inputs (anything with RCA inputs built in last 40 years really...). By all means keep the original wiring but add a 4 way RCA loom under the carpet and replace the amp with a modern 4 channel one. You may have to adapt the power to the old amp to fit the new. Easy job but if you are unsure ask any youth behind the wheel of a Fiesta ST with a booming loud stereo to help out.... 🤣🤣🤣
  10. Grabbers come in many sizes. For a few quid it must be worth trying a smaller version. Good luck.

  12. We've stayed here a couple of times. Super clean, free parking nearby and a short stroll into the centre for bars/restaurants etc. Nice guy, easy communication etc. N.B. Laon can be a bit closed on Mondays/Tuesdays.... https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/636019817497018043?check_in=2024-03-21&check_out=2024-03-22&source_impression_id=p3_1710777620_TfMpU5wwYpO4iy%2BF&previous_page_section_name=1000&federated_search_id=ea031645-6295-47cc-bacc-e741b4fa6cd9
  13. I've been waiting years for one of these!
  14. I've been there before, it's a fascinating but little museum. I'd be interested, it's not far from me, good to get a run out if weather decent. I also know a few good pubs locally if lunch was of interest. Chris
  15. Impressed! I loved Japan, worked there a few times. What is the bike outside the model shop? 1st Gen CBR600?
  16. At least it’s your doorstep, I once received a photo of somebody else’s. Never did find out who!
  17. Buy it, knock the house down and build another? Probably cheaper than building a garage like that!
  18. Because they are for thicker (and probably larger diameter) discs. The beauty of the early boxter callipers is that they are an almost bolt-on solution, suit standard 3.2 discs and fit under 15" wheels.
  19. Wayne may be amongst the best but he cannot be the ONLY person with this technology. Ring around, see what others say.
  20. Lloyds of Warminster are good guys, not the cheapest partly because they use a bolt on hub attaching dyno arrangement, so there's most of an hour gone before you start....
  21. Ivan is of course right, the minimum is 2 big axle stands and a floor jack. Indeed I've seen Russel Lewis (No.1 Porsche engine man IMHO) do it exactly like that BUT if you already have a 2 post lift it is way easier! Tim, I found control of lift no problem, I can move mine almost mm at a time. Just undo almost everything, drop it onto the trolley, undo the engine and gearbox mounts and lift the car off.... Good luck whichever method you use. Chris.
  22. I use something like this but heavier duty. Already got casters on, wheel away to the engine shop dept of your garage.... https://www.bigdug.co.uk/handling-access-c22/handling-c5791/shelf-trolleys-c189/heavy-duty-table-trolleys-p13499
