Oil level reading - every day’s a school day
hot66 replied to Ian Comerford's topic in Oil & Oil System
but .. dont we all know our cars well enough by now that we can mentally match the dipstick reading to the gauge reading anyway ? also .. just remember, there is more than one length of dipstick for early cars .. make sure you have the correct one before believing it fully too -
I use these in 2 of my cars ... but I modded them by removing the magnet and installing a traditional phone 'clamp' in its place. Allowed me to use phone cases without the magnets in them

but then it woudnt be a pre74 show would it. I wouldnt expect to park my 964 up in the main show area. To be honest, it was quite nice to wander around the lower post 73 porsche car parking area just as an aside

That would have been a good convoy. Once the 356's are upto speed they do crack on 8). Don't think weve got any 356's with us this year unfortunately

Hope john doesnt mind me posting this here . DDK have got an exclusive camping area on Porsche Curves within the private Travel Destinations site. We've still got space for more so if any of you IB are fancying a trip to CLM 2022 and would like to camp on the circuit with a like minded group here are the details https://www.ddk-online.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=69209&p=648903#p648903 proper booking details are in the members only section, but if you're interested pm me and I'll give you the details

you need to buy a specific Arnage / Mulsanne parking pass these days to get your car in otherwise you will be turned away. Many years ago I walked from Maison Blanche to Arnage, easilly doable if you're a walker , but IMHO too dangerous these days to safely walk back in the dark For anyone on here wanting to camp, as Clive said earlier, we've got a DDK camping zone at Porsche Curves within the Travel Destinations secure campsite

there is talk in the not so distance future that the extra tax will be collected at source of charge ... all new domestic charge points will have to be able to communicate their usage over wifi etc and this info of course can then be used to charge the full VAT and any additional charges for the electricty used specifically for cars https://insights.leaseplan.co.uk/electric-vehicles/ev-smart-charging-faq/#:~:text=The Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021,applied to units funded by OZEV grant schemes. Will be interesting to see how things progress

and what a great show it was too .. real nice laid back event , felt like the original ones from a few years ago before pcgb etc got involved

Sports Cars In The Park - Newby Hall North Yorkshire - 1 August
hot66 replied to adigra's topic in IB Meets and UK Events
https://www.historichouses.org/ Think they are all privately owned properties & the owners got together and started the organisation. It's worth being a member depending on what houses are near you and part of the scheme. The only member house weve come across with a restriction is Castle Howard because they only allow I think one free entrance per year -

helps if your wife is a member of historic houses as it then only cost a few pounds -

Usually go to this as it's only down the road from me . Not sure i can make it this time round will have to see nearer the time. Good mix of cars. -
its a pre73 show ... kind of defeats the point if post 74 are on show too as it then becomes like every other porsche show + where do you draw the line There are other aircooled shows to encompass that side of things. Instead of moaning why not enjoy the spectacle

I've got a good friend who might sell his 86 ish lhd Targa. Very solid body ( US car ) , bit scruffy looking. Done many trips with us to Spa etc. Located near Cambridge.. Id have to ask him, but Id have thought it would be under £30k..

VR1 is perfect for the 2.7 mfi motor . There is a reason some of the UK's top aircooled performance engien buliders use it on all their motors from normal to wild. CAnt see why busybee would say not to use it in highly strung / performacnce build motors

2020 - Last Opportunity Roadtrip
hot66 replied to Richard Bernau's topic in Euro Road Trips and Tours
re the CSL seats .. I fitted one of the sparco inflatable bladders behind the lower back cushion as an adjustable lumber & for me that made a massive difference. I also took mine to Germany , found t was surprisingly good at those long motorway stretches -
Interesting Harrys Garage Vid - how to choose the right car
hot66 replied to carreracat's topic in Impact Bumping
he mnetioned in a previous bid that it didnt really fit in to the collection anymore. I thought it had sold already ? -
think I've worked it out ... for some reasmn I thought the H7 & h1 bulb fitment into the original buckets was different .. but I see these projectors fit the original buckets & teh H1 bulb is for teh new projector . Nice installation
-
out of interest why use H1 rather than H4 ? Or is that because the projector has a openig cut off ? I've got a pair of Porsche 964 H4 headlights on my bench I'm about to convert so as not having MOT hassle each year ( I'm currenlty running H4 LED bulbs in my stock headlights which admittedly are touch & go MOT time althoiugh they do work really well )

I had a DMS modded 996 turbo incl sports exhaust etc , nice one low mileage . Supposed to be over 500 bhp . Really quick car but ultimatley was boring and one dimensional. Most of my driving is twisty country roads though. I sold it and replaced it with a CSL Honestly , my friends sorted early 3.4 996 C2 with factory sports suspension , lsd etc is way more fun than my turbo ever was.

DDK 2020 calendar will be available soon too

not an auto box though ... its a manual box with automated shift. 1/2 throttle might be fine .. think the slu is worse when people completly lift. Personally I never lifted .. which also feels great when doing full throttle red line shifts in the fastest setting
-
first pic with bronze wheel. New owner wanted stock look so I sold it with the original spec spare wheels I had. Also notice mine was a non xenon car so didnt have the headlight washers etc . I also removed the induction flap .. although that mod is open for debate. Great fun cars , you'll enjoy it .
-
My old one . Had to sell it to pay for a new roof on the house one thing to consider .. ppf on the carbon roof. They can pick up stone chips
-
dont throttle lift .. it induces clutch slur just keep throttle postion unchanged when up shifting ( which is usually flat to the floor )
